Living in Detroit and Southeastern Michigan
Henry Ford Hospital is located in Detroit, Michigan. The city has recently undergone a financial restructuring that has made it the strongest it has been in decades. The atmosphere in the city is vibrant and optimistic, with businesses moving in at a record pace and people becoming excited about the future. A new hockey stadium is being built for the Red Wings. A new public transit rail line is being built in the center of the city. Suburban residents are moving back to the Downtown and Midtown areas. New retail outlets are popping up all over the city. City parks are being revitalized and the historic Belle Isle is being restored to its former beauty. Of course there is much work to be done and a huge underserved population who needs the most help. As a physician in the city you will have the opportunity to be a positive force for change and help those who have means and those who do not. Henry Ford is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping all, and that ethos is ever present in everything that you will do. The patients you see here will come from our health insurance company (HAP), third party insurers, the suburbs, the region (we are a regional referral center), as well as underserved areas of Detroit, so you will have a very diverse mix of patients. There has never been a better time to be in Detroit and at Henry Ford, and we look forward to welcoming you to our region.
Henry Ford Hospital is located in the up-and-coming Midtown neighborhood which offers a variety of activities and attractions, including shops, museums and restaurants. With so many things to do in such close proximity, Midtown is one of the most walkable communities in Detroit. Midtown is only minutes from Downtown Detroit, and you’ll be close to the homes of the Detroit Tigers, Red Wings and Lions sports teams. Take in a Broadway musical at the historic Fox Theater, see beautiful exhibits at the Detroit Institute of Arts, or learn more about the history of the city at the Detroit Historical Museum. Enjoy a walk on the Riverfront and a meal at one of Detroit’s many dining options. With so many things to do, you will find that there is always somewhere new to visit and explore.
In addition to all of the great venues available in Detroit, there are so many wonderful things about living in Michigan:
