What Is Endoscopy?
Endoscopy is a medical procedure that uses a thin, flexible tube with a camera (called an endoscope) to view internal organs through natural openings or small incisions. This technique helps doctors:
- Examine the digestive tract
- Diagnose or monitor diseases
- Perform certain treatments without traditional surgery

Henry Ford offers a full range of endoscopic services, including:
- Digestive Tract Procedures

- Colonoscopy: Large intestine (colon)
- Flexible Sigmoidoscopy: Rectum and sigmoid colon
- Capsule Endoscopy: Swallowed camera capsule to view the small intestine
- Deep Bowel Enteroscopy: Advanced imaging of the small intestine
Biliary and Pancreatic Procedures
- ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography): Bile ducts and pancreas
- EUS (Endoscopic Ultrasound): Ultrasound imaging of internal organs via the digestive tract
