Inpatient Psychiatry at Wyandotte Hospital

Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital's Behavioral Services department provides comprehensive mental health programs and services to adults and is fully supported by the hospital's medical, surgical and diagnostic consultants.

Inpatient Rehab

Services are provided on a 38-bed inpatient adult psychiatric unit. Treatment aims focus on identifying patient conflicts, and initiating the process of resolving them. Discharged patients are provided with individually-tailored care plans that help them transition to their next stage of wellness. In general, patients stay an average of five to seven days and participate in an intense therapeutic program designed to meet their psychiatric and medical needs. This specialized program is comprised of a team of experienced, licensed professionals who work with persons who may have depression, bi-polar disease, anxiety disorders or schizophrenia.

A typical day on the unit provides the patient with individual and group therapy, nursing education groups, functional occupational therapy groups, recreational therapy groups and chemical dependency groups, if warranted. These groups are geared to improve the individual's ability to function. In addition to this, the treatment team works with the patient and their families to determine the best discharge plan and follow-up care.
