Reaching Beyond the Bedside

At Henry Ford Health, caring for our communities extends far beyond the walls of our hospitals and medical centers. We are working alongside the people and communities we serve to improve access to care, address the factors that shape health, create economic and educational opportunities, and help people live healthier, fuller lives.

In 2025 alone, we provided a record $1.6 billion in community benefit, including $1.1 billion in uncompensated care to our most vulnerable populations, as we continued investing in programs and partnerships across Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Jackson, Genesse and Livingston counties – and beyond.

Some of our community impact and investment include:

• Offering free, potentially life-saving heart screenings to more than 1,600 Michiganders in a single day at our Healthy Heart event across nine locations, including sites in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Genesee and Jackson counties.
• Deploying the mobile mammography unit into neighborhoods in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties, so uninsured and under-insured women can receive the important care they need.
• Providing more than 25,000 bottles of donated breast milk to babies in need in and out of the hospital setting in 2026 so far. Based in Jackson since 2023 and serving families across the state, our donor milk bank is the first of its kind in the region and is on track to accept more than half a million ounces of donated milk in early 2027.
• Partnering with Habitat for Humanity for a program called Stay Home Safe, which provides home modifications that help seniors avoid falls, improve safety and remain independent.
• Mentoring hundreds of Detroit-area high school students as they explore careers in surgery and awarding 25 $1,000 paid summer internships to high school students who get paired with physicians.
