A workshop for navigating cancer care at the Henry Ford Cancer Institute.
Specialized care for all types of cancer in women.
Each year, our Henry Ford women’s cancer team treats nearly 400 women with female cancers. These cancers affect the reproductive parts of a woman’s body, such as the uterus, ovaries, vulva (outside of the vagina) and cervix.
Female cancers can cause a wide range of physical and emotional complications that require personalized treatment on a case-by-case basis.
Why should I choose Henry Ford for female cancer treatment?
You’ll likely have questions about what to expect during your cancer treatment and recovery. Please ask -- we want you to have the education and support you need to recover and get back to living your life.
How are women’s cancers diagnosed and treated?
Women’s cancer symptoms can be frustratingly vague. Common symptoms like bloating, vaginal discharge, and abdominal tenderness are similar to many other gynecological conditions.
If female cancer is suspected, your doctor will confirm a diagnosis through a series of tests, which may include:
- Blood tests
- Imaging tests
- Physical examination
If you are diagnosed with a women’s cancer, our team of specialists will work with you to create a treatment plan based on your unique condition. Whenever possible, we opt for the least invasive treatment options that give the most positive outcome.
